Editing session- EVALUATION

Today we continued to edit our film, we also added in the narration sequences which i recorded to our movie. This resulted in an effective opening narration sequence which gave a clever effect on the scene. The editing went well, the music which i put in was very effective to the scenario in hand, it created a variety of effects, such as an increase in suspicion and dramatic tension. We also created a quicker ellipsis in the 'work-out scene', i did this to emphasize how physically fit our main character is. The only problem which i faced was that we were going to use garage band for some of the music in our film, but i decided against the idea mainly due to the fact that we couldn't create the type of music which suited our film properly ( high tension ).

Recording the narration sequence- EVALUATION

I recorded the voice of Matthew Whittleton for my narration sequence, for this i used a high tech recording devise called the R-09HR. I learnt how to use it and experimented with different voices which i told Matt to do to see which accent suited the scene the most. At the end we used a London accent. This recording session went well because i got the recording which i wanted.

here is a photograph of the equipment which i used

The actors

For my movie 'The Hit'  i used Adam Gardiner and Matthew Whittleton as the two actors who played Nazo and Max, i chose these two because they are both very good at Drama, they bot got A's at GCSE. I wanted a tall person to play the villain Nazo, this was because it would make him seem more dangerous and add some vulnerability to towards the body guard who he knocks out at the start. And Adam fits into this category perfectly. For the Part of Max i wanted the actor to be a bit of a cheeky chappy, and for him to be a confident actor with a good voice for the narration sequences, yet again Matthew fits this perfectly. In conclusion, the actors which i casted are the right choice for my film.

EVALUATION - Filming Day!

Today i filmed the opening scene for our movie 'The Hit'. This Filming session went well because i was able to film all the footage that we needed. I personally filmed all of the scenes in our film, and ! directed the film very well giving information to the actors and telling them what to do. I think I benefited from this filming session the most mainly due to the fact that i did a very large percentage of the work that needed to be done in this particular session. I did ask my partner Dan if he wanted to film the second half of the film, but he declined the offer. To be honest there were not many disadvantages or problems which i faced with today's filming, we have a few funny outtakes and i plan to uses theses outtakes to make a gag reel. But altogether I really enjoyed today's filming and i had allot of fun and pleasure in doing it!

Updated script

This is an updated script which I personally wrote, and i have given each of the cast and crew a copy of the script

‘The Hit’- Script

At the very start of the opening scene a narration sequence is taking place from the protagonist Max, he explaining why the villain Nazo is a potential threat and explaining what himself does for a living, all this is being said when the camera is following Nazo walking down a road to get to his destination

MAX- “The start of something, the start of something can be dangerous, or even devastating. And all this can be caused by one man and one man only. This 'man' could be an extremist or just a wannabe. Either way it’s my job to stop this 'start of something' from happening. In this case the 'man' is called Nazo, Nazo has been planning something which we don't like, therefore we want to stop him. Now I can tell you this for free, Nazo is a person who you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. Ok he doesn't look like your stereotypical thug, he looks quite ordinary, but his actions are far from ordinary. I've been tracking him for month's now and hopefully this time I’ll be able to get rid of him."

When Nazo walks up to the guard protecting the house and points a gun at him

Guard- You’re making a very big mistake, but you are not the first person who has been stupid enough to steal from us

Nazo – shut up or ill be the last person to steal from you! on your knees
Nazo knocks out the guard and makes his way into the house
Nazo scrambles around looking for the Intel he needs, just as he finds it our protagonist Max is behind him

Max-  Drop it Nazo! We know what you’re up to

Nazo-   Oh do you Max, well, this is just the beginning

A loud bang kicks in, and the screen goes black and text appears which says 3 weeks earlier
The scene cuts to Max getting out of bed, and doing his daily work out. While this is happening, another bit of narration from max kicks in

Max-   This guy, this is me. Handsome fella aren’t I. Now my combat history is very complex, I have succeeded in many mixed martial arts, for example I’m a black belt in Brazilian jujitsu and I’ve won the K1 kickboxing tournament 3 times in a row, now I don’t like to brag but I say a healthy body means a healthy lifestyle. I use to be in the special air services for three years until they released me for being too obsessed with the job. I know a lame excuse isn’t it.

Phone rings max answers it

Max- Yeah?

Voice- Max, we have a job for you, there’s a guy called Nazo, now before you start asking questions we’re not sure if he’s a threat to us yet so just keep a watch on him, you got that

Max-  I’m on it

Research on opening of movies, Genre: thriller

LAYER CAKE

The opening scene starts off with Daniel Craig narrating the scene guiding us through his drug dealing career and explaining how drugs "Have change everything". While this narration is going on the scene cuts to different scenarios, one to a gang of armed criminals robbing a bank, to a group of hippies smoking cannabis, and then the scene cuts to Daniel Craig walking down the street to his flat while the narration is still taking place. (This use of narration inspired me to use it in my film 'The Hit') Gentle music silently kicks in when he enters his flat, then quickly cuts to a closed shot of his team in his drug business. The narration tells the audience why each individual in his team are special to his business, whether its brains or muscle. This is very detailed narration , this could be to show that Daniel Craig's character knows what he is doing, or to emphasizes how extremely organized he is.
