Giving information to the actors

I have personally emailed the two actors in our film giving them a detailed script/plot and a description of our film. this is what i wrote-               Right then guys we will be filming some time in January, so here's a detailed plot/script of our film ( The Hit ) The opening of the scene starts off with our villain 'Nazo' (Nazo is Adam)walking down the street to get to the house which he has to break into to gather certain intel for his upcoming plans of destruction, while he's walking our hero 'Max' is narrating the scene explaining why Nazo is so dangerous (Max is Matt)           MAX- " The start of something, the start of something can be dangerous, or even devastating. And all this can be caused by one man and one man only. This 'man' could be an extremist or just a wannabe. Either way its my job to stop this 'start of something' from happening. In this case the 'man' is called Nazo, Nazo has been planning something which we don't like, therefore we want to stop him. Now i can tell you this for free, Nazo is a person who you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. Ok he doesn't look like your stereotypical thug, he looks quite ordinary, but his actions are far from ordinary. I've been tracking him for month's now and hopefully this time ill be able to get rid of him."
When max stops talking, Nazo points a gun at the henchman guarding the house, the henchman says "What do you want, don't shoot", Nazo just laughs and knocks the henchman out with the end of the gun. Nazo then breaks into the house and frantically looks for the documents which he is looking for, he eventually finds them on the floor under the sofa . When Nazo gets up max is standing close behind him and says, " Its over Nazo, we know what your up to!". The screen quickly blacks out and the text says three weeks earlier, the scene then cuts to Max training in his room doing press ups, sit ups etc ( I thought it would be clever to use ellipsis on this section) Max then gets an urgent phone call on his mobile, the caller says " Max, we have information that Nazo is going to strike again, we need you to take him out, do you understand?" Max bluntly says "Yeah, im on it". Then the opening credits start rolling, end of opening scene.

Description and script of the plot in detail

I have decided to add in different scenes and to go through the plot in detail. The opening of the scene starts off with our villain 'Nazo' walking down the street to get to the house which he has to break into to gather certain intel for his upcoming plans of destruction, while he's walking our hero 'Max' is narrating the scene explaining why Nazo is so dangerous (see previous posts for the script for the narration scene) When max stops talking, Nazo points a gun at the henchman guarding the house, the henchman says "What do you want, don't shoot", Nazo just laughs and knocks the henchman out with the end of the gun.

EVALUATION - Adapting to the problems

The two actors which i chose did well on the material which they were given, but in some parts of the interview they were smiling or laughing unprofessionally and sometimes there were awkward silences. I could have just edited these parts out but that would of make the film a lot shorter, so i though why not turn these problems into advantages, after all the film is called the 'odd interview'. I added in laughter when Ollie and Alex were laughing to make it seem like a sitcom, and i also added in funny noises when Alex rolled his eyes and when Ollie raised his eyebrows when he laughed. All of these techniques added in humor to my piece!

EVALUATION- Preliminary task

After uploading my video to youtube i felt very pleased with the end product, this is because it achieved the 180 degree rule and i successfully edited it on the apple macs with all the new software which was recently explained to me, I added in music to add suspense aswell as templates and writing to explain to the audience what was happening.

I found my preliminary task was very funny but i think the editing was a bit rusty so i think i could have smoothed it out a bit more to make it look more professional, but altogether think i did very well for my first project!

Music ideas - Drums

I have notice that in the thriller films which i have researched, the volume and pace of drums are very often used to create dramatic tension and to build up suspense, this is why i personally decided to use this effect in the opening of our film (maybe when Max pulls out a gun on Nazo?).I can use this technique in a number of ways, I can use it on garage band on the macs mixed in with other music. I will post more information about the music for our film when i get more comfortable with garage band so stay tuned!

Research on opening of movies, Genre:thriller

THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM- The scene starts of with very fast paced music while Jason Bourne is running away for the Russian police. The music then gets faster and the volume increases when Jason jumps on to a train to create a diversion, he then jumps of it and runs and breaks into a medical store. The volume of the music decreases but the pace of it increases as he is trying to find the medicine he needs to relieve the pain of his flesh wound. Because the pace of the music is so fast, this tells the audience that he is against the clock. Next, the music suddenly stops because he has injected himself, and two Russian police officers run into the medical store and yell "put your hands up". The music is still silent because Jason complies, but after a few seconds it kicks in again very loudly because Jason knocks out the two officers.
